Both Page Hamilton and Richard Fortus use the Frostwave Resonant filter in their guitar setups.

THE RESONATOR - AS USED BY PAGE HAMILTON AND RICHARD FORTUS

After sending out a questionnaire in late JULY to all previous Frostwave.com
customers we were flattered and humbled by peoples enthusiasm and praise for the whole Frostwave range. A testament to Paul Francis Perry and the rest of the Frostwave crews tireless efforts in producing unique Analog tools
for the working musician.

In summarising a selection of these comments I decided to select two guitarists.
Both of these gentlemen have achieved recognition not only for their guitar playing but also for their innovative approach to their music as a whole.

It wasn't too surprizing to hear that both now utilise the FROSTWAVE RESONATOR as a important part of their live setups. Showing that the immense popularity of the RESONATOR amongst ELECTRONIC and NOISENIK musicians is indeed achieving a cross over into more and more diverse styles of music.

PAGE HAMILTON of seminal math rock outfit HELMET, and more recently lead guitarist for DAVID BOWIE is the kind of man Frostwave Effects were built for. Someone who definitely is 'out side of the square' as far as approach and performance is concerned.

Page's musical background spans from experimental noise with THE BAND OF SUSANS, to occasional contributions to infamous New York minimalism guitar ensemble of composer GLENN BRANCA. A studied Jazz musician, Page went on to define a guitar genre in the 'jaring' guitar rock machine that is HELMET.

Page, when asked was very happy to share his setup with frostwave.com

"My guitar rig changes pretty frequently but the VHT guitar amps remain constant. Right now I've got a bunch of MXR pedals, Moog 12 stage phaser, Z-Vex Fuzz Factory, Flip Funky Box and the Resonator in a rack with a Lexicon MPX G2 (which I found to be useful during the Bowie stint).

I access everything with a Rocktron (now defunct) All Access switcher and Rocktron Patchmates.

The Resonator is great 'cause if you find the right setting it'll play the damn guitar for you ( I'm lazy)....this lets you run around pumping your fists in the air ( RAWK!!) to fire the crowd up. You can't capture and quantize that shit in Pro Tools!! "

Who would of thought you would be hearing a RESONATOR
on a BRITNEY SPEARS or N'SYNC record?

Well guitarist Richard Fortus has made it happen.

Richard rose to notoriety as a member of the re-formed Psychedelic Furs, which carried on from his involvement in the excellent LOVE SPIT LOVE (The Smiths cover that is used for the TV theme of 'Charmed' being their most mainstream, although certainly not their most substantial accolade!!).

Richards partnership with Richard Butler of LSL and the FURS continues as does his involvement on a number of mainstream pop artists recordings such as BRITNEY SPEARS and N'SYNC.

Again Richard was very generous in sharing his live guitar setup that
utilises the Resonator with a custom built CV controller made with some assistance from PF Perry himself!

"I'm primarily a guitarist. Paul Perry helped my tech out with building a cv controller out of a volume pedal so I can sum the hp and lp and sweep them via the pedal. In the studio I've been using it with my Alesis Andromeda as well as running vocals and drums through it.

I've been using it for gtr with a z vex fuzz factory or Prescription Outbox into a digitech whammy pedal and then into the Resonator.

Great sound!
I used this set up on the new N'sync single "Dirty Pop".
